The sonata and its ancient form was my guide through these pieces written between and after World Wars, while Scarlatti serves as an epilogue from a bygone era; each piece fights with the sonata form — using it, abusing it, enhancing and re-shaping it in all the creative journeys that they set out on. And all of them are prophetic.
